our history

The E-Project was formed in 2000 and from its inception had a focus on sustainable architectural design. This philosophy was put into practice in the Company’s own offices which, as part of a redevelopment of a listed Townhouse, incorporated the first solar panel powered heating system in the Town of Dungarvan.

The Practice’s focus on environmental design solutions to all project work remains a key guiding principle and this has allowed the Practice to gain a reputation for high quality residential, commercial and education projects in the intervening 12 years. During the 2000’s the Practice completed projects across a number of sectors including ‘one off’ private residential, urban apartments developments, mixed use residential and commercial projects and primary and post primary education projects. Its profile was raised by regular project features on national TV and the regional and national press.

In 2010 the experience of the Practice was expanded significantly with the Appointment of Michael Regan as a Consultant, and as Managing Director in 2011. Michael has brought to the Practice 25 years of Healthcare, Education, Leisure, Civic and Cultural, Retail and commercial experience. Selected projects from Michael’s career to date have been included in the portfolio section of the website.

The Practice is registered with the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI) and a Chartered Practice Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). It is also a Certified Passive House Institute accredited Practice.

ETHOS

The E in the E-Project Chartered Architects name references the Practice’s Environmental credentials and its overarching approach to all of it’s commissioned works for an architectural sustainable design solution. The sustainable ethos of the Practice will continue to be at the forefront of our architectural design approach to all projects. We apply to all projects a ‘sustainable checklist’ at concept stage to identify appropriate design responses to the site, brief and orientation, and also research and propose to our Clients technological solutions that will reduce the carbon foot print, and more often the future operational costs, of their development. We work with our Clients to achieve individual environmentally designed architectural solutions that reflect the function and identity of their use. Our own office, developed in 2002 within a listed but dilapidated Townhouse in Dungarvan, reflect this approach of regeneration and sustainability. The significantly remodelled building incorporated solar panels and the insertion of a south facing façade and lightwell to assist in the heating, ventilation and daylighting strategy of the office. We strive to deliver excellent architectural services to our clients and aspire for exemplar project design solutions that enhance the end users experience of their buildings. We value all of our staff equally and through respect for their individual efforts and collective achievements the Practice seeks to build on its past successes and continue to our expertise to the benefit of our Clients.

People

E-Project Chartered Architects has, in common with all Architectural Practices, expanded and contracted over the past 11 years to reflect the demands and activity of the Construction Industry. It has a core of Architects and supporting technical staff which it supplements as necessary on a contract basis from a core of long standing consulting staff – architects, interior designers and technicians. Using this model it is possible to accept new commissions, assemble a hand picked team of suitably experienced architects / technicians etc. and react quickly to a Client’s programme.

The Key Staff work under the direction of Michael Regan – Practice Principle, Design Architect – and as a team can undertake all Work Stage requirements – design, production information, administration and site management etc. All staff have a contribution to make to the design and construction process and roles overlap to ensure that there is an integrated approach to each project .

In addition to Architectural Services the Practice has also procured and managed on behalf of Clients the full design team – Architects, Civil / Structural Engineers, Mech / Elec. Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Interior Designers, Landscape Architects, PSDP (h+s) – as part of a ‘one stop’ service.

Ethos

As a contemporary architectural design practice E Project Chartered Architects do not have a ‘house style’ of architecture, preferring each project to dictate to a degree of its own unique architectural design solution.
EPCA prefer to approach each project – irrespective of its size and complexity – in a systematic way, without preconceptions of a design or stylistic response. This is to ensure that all of the key design drivers – the Client’s project brief, the site selection, orientation, context, constraints and opportunities etc. – are given equal consideration at the outset.

Early engagement with the Client is critical as conversations and the appropriate review and reference to precedent projects etc. can often inform the brief, especially where first time Clients are concerned. We do not seek to impose a design on any project, preferring to work with our Clients at each milestone stage of development to ensure that the design is progressing towards the same objective.

A review of the Practice’s ‘Projects’ Portfolio included on the EPCA website includes projects completed by EPCA and also projects designed or under the direction of EPCA managing Director Michael Regan prior to taking over the practice. These selected projects reflect the full range of project types and design solutions that have been provided to meet the requirements of a Client’s exacting design brief.

EPCA and Managing Director Michael Regan continue to strive for exemplar building solutions to our commissions. We seek at all times to exceed our Client’s expectations and create site specific, architecturally considered and refined buildings of a high material quality and which have elements of beauty and surprise.

EPCA recognise that the success of any project is dependent on the performance of all contributing factors – Client, Design Team, Contractor and Suppliers. We have a proven record of working with and managing all aspects of the design and construction process and the delivery of exemplar projects – on time and on budget – across all project scales and sectors.
